Wacktastic Holiday Light Show
WordPress CSS Theming: Scott Marlow
Greenwood/Phinney residents can now enter the 2009 Wacktastic Holiday Light Show Contest!
This is my second year sponsoring this North Seattle community event by providing website development. The new site is powered by WordPress, and features an embedded GoogleMap that accepts batch uploads of contest entries.
Don’t miss the December 20th Awards Party.

City Chickens–No Roosters Required

Yesterday, Jen and I completed our volunteer project for the Sustainable West Seattle Festival. After drumming up some sponsors for the event, we presented table information from 10:00-3:00 on raising ‘backyard’ chickens. Jen also presented a workshop at 10:30 for a few dozen Festival attendees (her picture even made the West Seattle Blog).
Stay tuned for a tour of West Seattle chicken coops this summer. Contact me if you are interested.
Get Wacktastic
My friends Kelly Davis (Farm Girl Works) and Beegee Tolpa (Illustration & Design) invited me to collaborate on a new neighborhood event: the Wacktastic Holiday Light Show Contest. The event encourages Greenwood-Phinney neighbors to get in the holiday spirit by displaying lights at their businesses and residences.
Increase Your Event Revenues 25%
Bike Works completed its sixth annual nonprofit auction March 15. This was my second year helping with the event.
In 2006, I was the auction chair – overseeing an 88% increase in revenues. In 2007, my friend Kendall Williams was the auction chair. This year, Duy Tran, Bike Works’ president, chaired the event; I managed procurement and worked with Duy to increase revenues.
This year’s fundraising event grossed an all-time high of over $70,000, a 25% increase over 2007 – another record-breaker. A record 225 attendees showed up at UW’s Gould Hall to support Bike Works youth programs.
